Mrs Machin is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Mrs leese is the   Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

We understand our statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and we maintain a professional attitude of ‘it could happen here’ where safeguarding is concerned.

At St.Edward’s CE Academy Cheddleton, all members of staff are trained to protect the children from risk or harm.

We teach  the children how to keep safe and recognise risks. We also teach them who to talk to if they are worried or have any concerns.

What actions you should take if you have concerned that a child is harmed or at risk of harm.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU SPEAK TO SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY

You can talk to Mrs Machin, the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Mrs Leese, the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or make contact outside agencies.

If you believe the child to be at risk of immediate harm, this must be reported to the police on 999 .

The Staffordshire Families Integrated Front Door (SFIFD) Service is a county-wide telephone enquiry service provided by Staffordshire County Council. It serves as the first point of contact for concerns about children and young people

ely.

To report a concern please use their child safeguarding form:

When the summer arrives please read this information about sun safety.

   NHS Sunscreen and sun safety

The Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code

An excellent site aimed at schools but provides comprehensive guidance that we feel might be of guidance to parents.

CBeebies have created some tips and a video for children explaining how to stay safe in the sun.

Safety at Home

Unintentional injuries in and around the home are a leading preventable cause of death and emergency admissions for children. Please refer to this newsletter by the ‘Stoke and Staffordshire Children’s Safeguarding Board’ for further information  and advice on how to prevent accidents within the home.
