Parent Partnership

Early Years education is the foundation upon which young children build the rest of their schooling. At St Edward’s Academy Cheddleton (SEAC) we believe in a holistic approach to learning which encourages parents/carers, staff members and teachers to work together to support our children’s development and learning.

Our staff are dedicated  to providing a broad and stimulating curriculum through which every child has the opportunities and support to develop a strong foundation to start their learning journey.

We recognise that parents are a child’s prime educator and when your child starts school an important partnership begins between school and home.  It is important to establish two-way communication links if the partnership is to be a successful one.  Regular opportunities for the exchange of information or questions to be  answered will be made available throughout the year.

We aim to:

  • Provide a happy and positive start to their school life where we foster a love of learning, a smooth transition and secure readiness for our Key Stage One Curriculum
  • Enable each child to develop socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally
  • Develop independence within a secure and nurturing atmosphere
  • Work alongside parents/carers to meet individual needs

We:

  • Provide a broad and balanced curriculum which takes children’s ages and different stages of development into account
  • Assign each child with a key worker to ensure that each child’s learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs
  • Promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Work in close partnership with parents and carers
  • Plan challenging learning experiences, based on individual needs, which are informed by observation and assessment
  • Provide a safe and secure learning environment

Our Early Years staff work as a team. Children from both Nursery and Reception have opportunities to work with all staff together during the day, both indoors and outdoors. Children are taught as a whole class, in key worker groups, smaller groups and individually. We are dedicated to providing excellent pastoral care and education to children in our academy.
