About St. Edwards CE Academy Cheddleton

Welcome to St. Edward’s CE Academy Cheddleton. We are very proud of our school and its achievements.  We continually strive to provide a learning environment that is fully inclusive, happy and caring; a safe and secure place that enables everyone to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to build fulfilling lives.

We have a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed staff who, supported by the Local Academy Council and Multi-Academy Trust,  believe in the benefits of working as a team, which includes parents/carers, the church and the wider community.  This team approach optimises learning for all our children enabling them to flourish and to be all they wish and can be.

We are a community school that warmly welcomes friends and visitors to experience the magic of working with wonderful children.

Principal: Mrs S Machin

Learning Outdoors

Learning outdoors is exciting and it never really feels like work! As a Forestry School our children spend a lot of time learning about their environment and how to look after it. We have fabulous and spacious grounds which overlook the beautiful Moorlands countryside so we make the most of our free resources.

Whether it’s making dens, climbing trees, sitting around a campfire toasting marshmallows or learning about different species of plants and animals, learning outdoors is fun!

Our school places great importance upon being fit and healthy; of being able to take part in a wide variety of sporting activities. We offer a great choice of extracurricular activities too so that all children can ‘have a go’ and discover for themselves what they can do.

We also place great importance on taking part in external competitions, representing our school in the best light and… we especially like to win!

Learning Indoors

Learning indoors has to excite, engage and enthuse to be effective. To this end, we work hard to translate and creatively deliver the National Curriculum for all of our learners so that everyone can access and enjoy learning in glorious technicolour.

As a creative school we ensure that every child has the opportunity to express themselves through the Arts including drama and music. Inside our school you will find the walls are awash with colour and texture.

We also have very high expectations for our children, whatever their starting point or abilities.  It is really important that our children feel both safe and secure, willing to ‘have a go’ and to achieve their very best without fear of failure…and they do.

Most of all, we want our children to have fun and acquire lots of very happy memories of their early education!

Learning and Caring Together

Our school motto, Learning and Caring Together, founded on Christian principles, underpins everything we do. We believe that all of our children are special and they need to know that they are greatly valued. They also need to know that they are part of school family too, where everyone cares for and helps one another.

To this end our staff are fantastic role models who guide and support our young learners as they grow and develop those essential life skills, learning to live in harmony with one another.

We love our school

Our children are amazing; they are also our best critics! We want every child to enjoy their early education with us so we listen to what they have to say. In the spirit of democracy our elected School Council acts on their behalf to help with the efficient running of the school.

From the Nursery upwards the children have a voice to be heard so we hope that you will be convinced by what they say in our video.
