At St Edward’s, the Maths curriculum is intended to adhere to maths mastery principles and beliefs, as set out by the NCETM, to allow all pupils at our school to acquire a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of Mathematics. Upon leaving us, we aim to ensure children are able to ;
–use mathematical reasoning to explain their understanding of mathematical concepts
–be fluent with number facts
–apply mathematical thinking and make connections within their maths learning
–show a positive attitude towards maths, with the understanding that if they work hard, they will be able to succeed in maths
– be able to apply their mathematically understanding to solve problems
