Welcome to St Edward’s CE Academy, Cheddleton

St Edward’s CE Academy, Cheddleton is a village school where dedicated and enthusiastic staff and governors value working together with parents, our community and professional partners. Our safe and happy school provides opportunities for all to grow and flourish educationally, personally and spiritually. We fully appreciate the importance of healthy minds and bodies and the influence these have on outcomes for all.

Our flexible, funded and paid nursery provision is teacher led and is available to children, in and out of our catchment area, from the term after their third birthday (September, Easter and January intakes). Our nursery teaching, learning and care is tailored to the developmental needs of children and ensures that strong foundations prepare children for their continued learning journey into their reception year and beyond. Our wrap around ‘Brambles’ before, after school and holiday provision is also recognised as a strength of our school.

At St Edward’s, we teach the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and National Curriculum. We incorporate local, national and global current and historical links to promote connections and real life context and breadth for our children. We believe that ‘every minute counts’ and that ‘practise makes permanent’ and we incorporate opportunities for practise and recall throughout each and every day (and lesson)!

Our children’s voices are valued and heard at St Edward’s. ‘Everyone is a leader’ and all children have responsibilities including Academy Ambassadors, School, Eco and Christian Council Representatives, Class Monitors and by being ‘Secret Agents’ for ‘Mrs Machin’s Missions.’ The children tell us that they enjoy their lessons, their exciting playtimes, learning in our forest, growing plants in our garden, looking after our animals and our wide range of after school clubs that were chosen by themselves.

We encourage and welcome school visits so that our ethos, culture and provision can be experienced first-hand, so please contact our school office if you would like to come and see for yourself! (office@stedwardscheddleton.co.uk  Tel: 01538 714850)

What we stand for

Our Ethos

At St Edward’s, our Christian Distinctiveness is embodied in what you see, hear and feel through our academy ethos, culture, values and curriculum. We are an inclusive academy where all God’s children, and adults, are treated with dignity and respected for difference, diversity and ways of living. We encourage all members of our community to grow and flourish within the context of our Christian belief and practice regardless of status, age, ethnicity, gender, identity, learning needs, nationality, religion or disability.

Our Vision and Values

We will teach wisdom, model and expect respect for all. We will nurture compassion, responsibility, courage and perseverance, equipping our children for life in all its fullness as honest adults in our diverse and ever changing world. We aspire to work collaboratively with our academy, Multi-Academy Trust, local, national and global communities as by…

Learning and Caring Together “…they will flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:13)
